Virtue has gone out of me

Jesus was said to have worked miracles but doing so troubled Him because He knew that working miracles was vain. To exemplify this Jesus pointed out that when a miracle was worked He was lessened by it. He said that VIRTUE had gone out of Him. Virtue is ‘moral goodness’ and Jesus knew that propagating and perpetuating miracles had the result of reinforcing the vain attitudes of idolatry. This troubled Him deeply enough to point it out to the disciples.

Lu:8:46: And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

M'r:5:30: And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

Jesus knew that signs and wonders were the key to attracting the population but the real miracles lay in teaching the truth.

Joh:4:48: Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

Claiming miracles caused people to perjure themselves in the name of god. This was a great sin and Jesus pointed out that to blaspheme the Holy Ghost was unforgivable.

M't:12:32: And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

Perjury is wilfully telling a lie or making misrepresentation while under oath. To say that miracles happen is to commit perjury against the Holy Ghost. To witness that a healing has taken place when in fact it hasn’t, is to perjure against the Holy Ghost. This is the worst of all sin because it is against the Spirit of Truth. How can one be filled with the Spirit of Truth and claim miracles? The definition of miracle is an extraordinary and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws, attributed to a divine agency. Since we are constantly under scrutiny of the Spirit of Truth we are therefore obliged to tell the truth especially truths about God and the Holy Ghost. To claim miracles happen, flies in the face of the Spirit of Truth. A lie cannot be sanctioned by God. We can’t be believers in miracles and tellers of the truth at the same time. We cannot serve two masters.
