The Day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night.
The clouds with which Jesus will return become obvious as the covering or veil of the truth that He represented as being revealed by the apocalypse. It is by this revealing of what the covering or veil is, that destroys the concept of God and Heaven. This destruction is likened to one being robbed of their delusion and fairytale notions about heaven.
Re:16:15: Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, (know the truth) and they see his shame.
This THIEF analogy is repeated in many places;
1Th:5:2: For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
1Th:5:3: For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman (out of man - religion) with child (Baptism); and they shall not escape.
It comes as a thief because the idolaters will feel robbed. They placed their trust in an idol and now there is no reward. Peter gives the same warning and reminds us that Heaven will come to an end one day.
2Pe:3:10: But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Re:3:3: Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
M't:21:43: Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Rev. 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
