Ge:3:3: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Ge:3:4: And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Ge:3:5: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
The important deciphering in these verses is simply the fact that God says they will die if they eat or even touch the fruit of knowledge in the midst of the garden. The Serpent however contradicts this and says to them that they won’t die but would instead have their eyes opened and be as gods knowing good and evil. There is no mistaking that the tree of knowledge of good and evil is a reference to the truth, that there are no such things as gods. The ancient Jews, Levites all, knew this principle well but hid it from the general public. The interesting thing to this story is the fact that God tells the lie and the serpent actually tells the truth here. God said that they would surely die if they eat or even touch the fruit whereas the serpent says you won’t surely die but instead will become as Gods knowing the truth. True enough they eat the fruit and don’t die just as the serpent predicted. They became as Gods knowing the truth that there are no such things as gods.
